Pretty much came to the same conclusion as you on the general feel of the car as far as interior trim goes. I did get to try out an STi short shifer installed WRX and I had to say that improved the feel of the shifting a LOT. Definitely a mod to get if you have a WRX. And yes, VERY nice stock seats. Turbo lag didnt seem all that bad to me but it was definitely noticable but you're also right about the gearing. Hopefully the new STi version's 6 speed will be better. The sales guy that let me take the WRX out allowed me to take it into a parking lot and do donuts with it.... or rather try to. The car would NOT break loose. I tossed it around all over the place and even with the crappy stock tires I could not get the car to spin. Yes, there was some noticable body roll but the handling abilities were very impressive even with the roll. I really want to see what the new STi version will be like but I'd love to get one as a DD.
